| Name: | Brian Alloway |
| Screen Name: | turfmn |
| Born where: | Fayetteville N.C. but my family is from Southern Jersey |
| Reside where: | Southern Delaware (I've been in DE for 10 yrs .Which is the longest I ever been in one place. Guess I starting to settle down.) |
| Pets: | Max and Deake(Pronouced DEEK) I'll give you one guess which dog is mine and which dog is my wife's. |
| Family: | My wife Sande |
| What modifications? | First off,
I want to point out that I've had my car for 8 years. August of 93' was
a good month. I bought my stang and meet my wife within two weeks of each
other(I bought the car first). Pro-M
83mm, Power pipe, Vortech B-trim, Edelbrock 70mm T.B., Edelbrock Performer intake, Edelbrock 6037 heads, WG1087 cam, 42lb injectors, K.B. boost-a-pump, 255lph fuel pump, FMS headers, Dr. Gas x-pipe, Borla mufflers, Centerforce D/F clutch, Tremec 3550, FMS driveshaft, 87 t-bird rear with 3.73 gears, Trac-link, G.W. lower control arms, CCM rear coil-overs, 25mm 98 Cobra rear swaybar, 1.125" 93 Cobra front swaybar, D&D front coil-overs, Hal k-member, custom Rhoades 8 point rollbar, g-load brace, subframe connectors, 17x9 Cobra R's, 13" Cobra front brakes, 11.65" Cobra rear brakes, 93 Cobra booster,93 Cobra master cylinder, and a whole lot more.( there will be a test on this at the end of the interview.) |
| What mods do you plan in the future? | S-trim, 50lb injectors, through the floor subs, and maybe a torque arm/ panhard rod setup. |
| What was the original goal for the car? | My goal for my car has always been to be a fast/great handling street car. Of course I've had to give up some speed at the track because of this, but I drive my car more on the street than at the track so I'm very please with how my car has turned out. |
| What is the present goal for car? | I would like to be able to drive to my local track with the a/c on, get teched in, run high 10's all day long, and then drive home with the a/c on. |
| Why did you buy the car? | It all goes back to my childhood. The summer I was born was really hot. My mother would drive me around in her 66 baby blue Mustang convertible to get me to go to sleep.(True story) |
| What other cars have you considered buying? | My aunts 67 GTA or a New Cobra. |
| Car/Driver Achievements? | My 1.69 60' time. I grinned all day long. And the 124.69 mph I got last winter at Cecil. It was my second run with the B-trim installed. Scared the hell out of me. |
| Best Time? | 11.62@123.86mph |
| Dyno Numbers? | 480rwhp / 463ft-lbs of torque |
| Do you have any regrets along the way? | The only regrets I have are buying
parts to make due when I really wanted the bigger/better part.
In other words, Save up the extra money and buy the 255lph pump instead of the 190lph. Wait a month longer to get the 13" brakes instead of settling on the 11" brakes. If you really want or need something you'll end up buying it any way. Plan ahead and work towards a goal. You'll save money in the long run. Which means you can buy more parts! |
| What was or is your favorite vehicle to this day and why? | It would have to be my 92 LX. I've done almost all the work to my car (I didn't install the rollbar and I didn't setup the cam). It's setup the way I want it and I did the work. |
| What does the Turfman do for enjoyment besides racing? | I love to play pool. I've actually had my pool stick longer than my wife or my stang. I also like going out boating, drinking Rolling Rock, and spending time with Sande and my dogs. |
| Please tell everyone how you came up with your screenname and how it all fits into your cars scheme as well. | Well my screen name has to do with what I do to make a buck. I have a 750 acre farm that at any one time there is about 600 acres of grass on it. Yearly sales average out to just over 2 acres a day. I sell grass to the little old lady that wants 9 square feet for her dog pen on up to Professional Sports teams and PGA golf courses that take acres at a time. Did I mention that my car is emerald green? |
| Here's a question that we'd all like to ask, have you ever made any performance modifications to your lawn equipment? | Well....I've turned up the injection pumps and adjusted the hydraulics so the sod harvesters can harvest a 1/4 acre an hour. That's double the manufacturers recommended speed! |
| What was your main reason for becoming a part of the internets first and best Mustang Club? | Eric(Rdrunner) told me about SSOTN. I checked it out
and really like the fact that most of the members are from the Mid-Atlantic
region and the super friendly atmosphere. I had really
become tired of the petty bickering and flaming that goes on in the other sites. |
| Shout-Outs? | Sande! For putting up with all the bull and cutting corners on household expenses just so I could go a little faster. |
| Who is your biggest rival on the track, and why? | As far as SSOTN members, I would say it's Adam88, Rdrunner, and MustangMatt. We all have pretty much the same goals in mind with our cars and run about the same times. Locally, I'd say it's Lance White. He and I have been one upping each other for about 3 years. |
| One last question
although not related to Mustangs whatsoever,
Coming from the professional Turfman himself... What's the best lawn care tip you can give the average homeowner to keep their lawn nice? |
Quality in, Quality out. Start with Sod or certified
seed. Keep it watered and manage your fertilizer
and chemicals (For those of you that would prefer to have this work done by a professional I can give you a phone number of a highly qualified company). What did you expect, dance naked under a new moon? |
