What was the original goal for the car? mid 13 second 5spd car
What is the present goal for the car? To just drive it and race it and enjoy it as much as possible.
Why did you buy the car? I had a 90 lx hatchback aod car and after doing "typical" mods to it I took it to the track expecting to run mid 13's with it, well after a disappointing 15.20 @ a blistering 90mph I think I was upset to say the least. I had never raced down the ¼ mile and really thought the car was fast but after that night I relized that a ¼ mile is further then traffic light to traffic light.TO make a long story short I relized that the same car with a 5 spd would be a lot faster and I got tired of the aod, so I sold the car and found this one here which started off as a pretty much stock 5spd car and now it's a 10 second auto car lol, So I picked it up and the rest is history
What other cars have you considered buying? Older cars such as chevelles, camaro's and nova's.
Car/Driver Achievements? For the car: being as consistant as hell when at the track now since I finally straightened out the suspension. For me : Getting it finally painted lol
Best Time? 10.72 @ 125
Do you have any regrets along the way? No regrets with the car that's why it is what it is, don't want to look back in life and say I wish I would have put this or that. Its exactly the way I want it, and that's FAST.
What was or is your favorite vehicle to this day and why? My first mustang, the 90 lx aod , if I can find another one with the same color combo I am going to buy it and make it look like that one. This ones a close second tho.
What was your main reason was for becoming a part of the internets first > and best mustang club? Jimmy c was the first one to tell me about the club and I checked it out and found it to be cool but then I ran into bill tumas and he talked about the nats and how great it was, I missed the next one b/c of the car being in the body shop but made the fall one and won't miss another one if I can help it.
What does Mike Mohring do for enjoyment besides racing? I enjoy movies, shooting pool, going away for the weekend, spending time with nicole, and actually I don't mind mowing the graas lol,
Shout outs or people that helped you achieve these goals: First and foremost is Jimmy c , if it wasn't for him the car wouldn't be where it is today. Also like to Thank Mom and dad for putting up with all my car b.s and parts being all over the place. My girlfriend Nicole who helps push it when it breaks and just being at the track with me. And all of the SSOTN.
Who is your biggest rival on the track, and why? Really don't have any. But I have had some close races with Lane, burbank and krimpet driving scott liers? 98 gt. I guess you can say the person in the other lane is my rival.
What upcoming events do you plan on racing in if any? Fords at e-town and the fall nats
One last question, The stick vs. auto thing seems to be a big controversy as of late on the SSOTN forums. Which is better in your opinion, and why? Both are better, for me a auto is better b/c I bracket race every Saturday night at e-town, and the consistancy of the auto is far better then a stick. Click Click baby
We thank you for your time, and wish you the best in whatever you decide to do in the future.
Congrats to Mike Mohring for being the SSOTN Featured Member for July 2002.
