Original Goal for car Daily driver
Present Goal for Car To run mid 13's and not break the car. It's still my daily driver for the time being.
Reason for buying car The looks for one. I originally wanted silver, but the dealer had the only Mineral Grey in town. The color wasn't even listed on Ford's web site yet, and it was love at first sight. I didn't want the Premium Package, but I figured, why not? It was my first new car in about 8 years.
Other cars you considered buying: Two ends of the spectrum. Subaru WRX and a WS6. WRX is a sweet car, but after having turbos, I felt something new was in order. The WS6 ended up being out of my price range. I still wanted a V8 so I went with the Mustang and have no regrets.
Car / Driver achievements Learning how to race. I've absorbed a ton of good info from SSOTN. Going to the track for Test and Tunes on a frequent basis helps. I'm trying to learn from each pass, and tend to analyze my time slips to figure out what was done differently on each pass.
Shout outs to people that helped you achieve these goals First, my wife Chaundra. She has been 110% supportive with me pursuing racing as a hobby. That support goes a long way. Shout outs to the SSOTN members....Rich (BLK88), Eric (RDRUNRR), Darrin (FRDFANDC) for helping me out at the Spring Nationals.
Best time 13.9@98mph
Do you have any regrets along the way? None
What was or is your favorite vehicle to this day and why? The mustang. I've had 1st generation DSM turbos, a 91 MR2 turbo, and various other cars. Nothing beats the sound of a Mustang, or the sense of style IMO. I really enjoy driving this car, I can't really say that about the others.
What was your main reason was for becoming a part of the internets first and best mustang club? I'm a North Jersey transplant to Delaware. I didn't know anyone down here. When I lurked on SSOTN, I saw a good percentage of guys from Delaware and the surrounding area, so I figured why not join. I've met some really cool people through SSOTN.
What do you do for enjoyment besides street racing? Nitro RC, throwing shrimp on the Barbie
Who is your biggest rival on the track, and why? Other then myself, no one. I am my own worst enemy when I want to achieve something.
What upcoming events in 2003 do you plan on racing in if any? Spring Nats 2003 and the Fall Nats
One last question, What is your favorite part of SSOTN, and why? The camaraderie and the learning from others. No one shoots down a stupid question. They always have an answer or advice. Club members always find each other at the track and are more then willing to help out with anything on and off the track. I'm proud to be a member of the club.
We thank you for your time, and wish you the best in whatever you decide to do in the future.
Congrats to Don Loesch for being the SSOTN Featured Member for May 2003.
