| What mods do you plan in the future? | None for either car |
| What was the original goal for the cars? | 2001 Goal For Big Red Was High10's. Never Really Had A Goal For 98 Cobra. |
| What is the present goal for car? | 2002 Goal For Big Red Mid To Low 10's On Slicks. 98 Cobra Is Retired From Racing. |
| Why did you buy the cars? | 1998 Cobra
When we bought the 98 Cobra, I was really looking to buy an SS LT4 Camaro. When I test drove the car, it rode worse than any car I could remember driving. Rock hard suspension, squeaks and rattles all over, horrible driving position (low and laid back). I literally hated the car and I told the sales guy that. Realizing that he had lost the sale, he said to me if you are looking for something more refined, you should look into the Mustang Cobra. I didn't even realize that Ford made a Cobra. The Chevy sales guy referred me to Bill Kolb SVT, Dianna and I went there, test drove the car and loved it. We bought the 98 Cobra that week. 1995 Cobra The reason for buying Big Red was mostly Jimmy-C. The 98 Cobra was making 426 HP at the rear wheels and I wanted more and I wasn't looking for 30 horsepower more, I was looking for 100. Jimmy-C convinced me that if I pushed the stock 4.6 DOHC cobra motor much further, it would KABOOM. So the plan was conceived to put together an SN95 - 5.0 car with big power. |
| What other cars have you considered buying? | Buying the 98 Cobra, I Also Considered An SS-LT4 Camaro and a Corvette. Buying the 95 Cobra, Nothing Else, I Was Specifically Looking For A Rio Red 95 Cobra |
| Car/Driver Achievements? | Not a very impressive year. My biggest achievement (if you can call it that) is all the stuff I broke. Broken blower, bent valve, blown head and header gaskets and 2 clutches. Pretty much every time I tried to race the car, I broke it. |
| Best Time? | (98 Cobra) : 12.96@110 On Street Tires (Big Red) : 11.43@126 On Drag Radials |
| Do you have any regrets along the way? | My big regret is that I didn't go all the way with Big Red from the get go. I pretty much wasted this racing season and a boat load of money trying to keep the car a compromise between a comfortable street machine and a weekend racer. |
| What was or is your favorite vehicle to this day and why? | I guess I have to say I have 2 favorite cars. Big Red with it's current setup is one of them. It is really a sick vehicle now with violent acceleration. My other favorite was a 1984 Porsche 930S that I had for a few years. It didn't have the violent acceleration that Big Red has (almost), but it could easily top out above 175 mph. |
| What does Mr Sullivan do for enjoyment besides racing? | I've been known to enjoy a cocktail or 2 now and then. Dianna and I really enjoy the beach, We spend a lot of time during the summer months in Montauk, Long Island. |
| What was your main reason was for becoming a part of the internets first > and best mustang club? | Again, I owe this one to Jimmy-C. One day we were talking about all the different Mustang sites on the Internet and he suggested that I look at superstallions.com. He said I would enjoy the site, that it was a great group of guys. The rest, as they say, is history. |
| Shout-Outs? | Didn't need any help breaking stuff, I did that all on my own! Seriously, I would Like to thank lots of people for the help and advice that they gave me along the way. In no special order. Jimmy Chahalis, Eric Berman, Mike Wilson, Spence Hart, Ben Dorn, Jimmy Vaccaro and all of the other members of Superstallions that have helped me out. |
| Who is your biggest rival on the track, and why? | I had so many problems with the car this year (literally one after another) that I really never got a chance to get myself consistent or the car competitive. This prevented me from getting any real rivalries going. That will all change for 2002. Look for me to start working my way through the SSOTN Power Adder ranks early on. Yep you heard me right! |
| What upcoming events in 2002 do you plan on racing in if any? | Without a doubt, the SSOTN Spring and Fall Nationals, probably NMRA Maple Grove and then whatever else I have time for. |
