Anyone ever try and tune for more mileage when they are off the track? I decided to change my sparkplugs and put in a set of Autolite 3924's gapped at .054 to see if I could pick up some gas mileage. I was running Autolite AR3924's gapped at .045. I've also started running 89 octane instead of 93. I am thinking of running 87 for the rest of the summer and switching back to 89 once the air gets cooler and denser. After the plug swap I took the car out and took it up to 6psi of boost and didn't have any problems with spark blowout.

Well, I'm getting an average of four more miles per gallon.

I need to do something for my truck. Getting around 14mpg. Time for new plugs and probably a tune now that I'm way past warranty.

Do you tow with your truck? If not you could try a set of those $5 plugs with fine wire electrode. Depending on mileage you may want to put in a set of O2 sensors also.

My truck is pretty much horrible but it was that way from the factory.  I put 3923's in it the last two times because it ran a little better with them at the track.  I've only ran the truck twice so maybe it's time to go back to the 3924s and see if that makes a difference.  I guess a 360 with 3.92 gears on a 28 inch tall tire doesn't have much of a chance either way though. lol.

I do tow Brian, but not often. The truck just turned 80k last week. I do have a favor to call in to a friend. I'll get him to let me borrow his scanner and monitor the 02's to see how they are performing. I don't want to buy 02's just yet, just forked out a chunk of cash for brakes and a few other items.

I'm thinking of trying a set of the iridium plugs. Have heard mixed reviews about them in these trucks.

Something else to think about. With my 02 F250 I had problems with spark knock when towing and on some extended trips. When I changed the plugs I put in plugs that were one heat range colder and the spark knock went away.

Do a little reading on those plugs. Some people say the platnium on the ground strap can cause pre-ignition under hard loads or blower applications.  I don't know if it's true or not.

I need to replace them. They have 80k on them. I am getting a little bit of pre-ignition on hard acceleration, like when I'm merging onto 95.
